TAKE PROPER CARE OF YOUR OIL PAINTINGS

1. The room where you keep the painting should have proper lighting, but make sure not to expose it to direct sunlight, bright overhead lights, or hang them near the fireplace. Also, ensure that the wall behind is not damp or moist.
   2. Hang it right:
Make sure the hooks are appropriate and strong enough so that the painting doesn’t fall or gets damaged. Don’t rely on regular nails for hanging a heavy piece.
3. Hold it firmly:
Whenever you need to clean the painting, hold it by the frame without touching the surface of the painting with hands. Never use a rough cloth to clean it.
4. Clean it right:
clean an oil painting regularly as that can lead to scraping of the paint. Whenever you do, clean gently with a soft brushes to remove the loose dust on the painted surface. A soft micro fibre cloth can also be used as the painting needs to be cleaned delicately without applying pressure.
5. Don’t try to be an expert yourself, if you don’t have adequate knowledge. If you find any insect infestation, any yellowing or damage on the painting, wrap it in a bubble wrap and take it to an expert or an art restorer for examination and restoration of the piece.

RIGHT WAY TO WEAR A SHORT DRESS

1 The right posture:Cross your legs carefully when you sit if you are sporting a short dress. Maintain your poise and don’t be careless by sitting with your legs wide apart, or you could end up exposing your underwear in public!
2 When you bend: If you want to bend down, make sure that you always bend through your knees, so that you can avoid any kind of embarrassing accidents.
3 Confidence matters: Be confident when you sit in a mini-skirt. Don’t tug at your skirt constantly, or try to pull it down — this would reveal your possible discomfort and lack of confidence in your sartorial choice. Also, make sure that you have moistured your legs well, so that they look their best, and you can walk with confidence.
4 Pair your dress with shorts:If your skirt is wide and fairy, make sure you wear a pair of boy shorts underneath, so as to increase your level of comfort.
5 Length of the skirt:Skirts can appear shorter than they actually are for tall girls, so it is advised that you wear longer skirts for occasions where you have to sit for long in public. Also, If you feel uncomfortable or too shy while wearing a short skirt, then you shouldn’t be wearing it in the first place.

Secret to a good night’s sleep

Chronic sleep deprivation has been described as the next health hazard after junk food bingeing and sedentary living. At a major sleep conference held in Boston this week, experts have been presenting a slew of studies blaming poor sleeping habits for most health ailments. If you too are suffering from sleep deprivation, here are some tips that can help you get a better night’s sleep:

1. Be consistent with the times you go to bed and wake up. This will help create a regular sleep pattern.
2. Apart from the obvious such as having a healthy and light diet, and avoiding caffeine late in the night, experts say that one must always refrain from going to bed hungry or overstuffed.
3. While an eye mask, ear plugs, or a sound generator for noise have been shown to help, laptops in bed and smartphones on the night table only cause hindrance to your sleep.
4. Wind down with a hot bath, a book or soothing music and try to stick to the same bedtime routine.
5. Regular physical exercise has been shown to enable a restful sleep.

GOING THE LINEN WAY

1 Linen for women: You can go for dresses as well as tops in linen as these are not only comfortable but look stylish as well. Linen jumpsuits, trousers with matching linen shirts, or even a straight-cut long dress with a sleek belt is a wise choice.
2 Linen for men: For a formal look, team up linen trousers with matching linen shirts. For a casual look, you can pair linen trousers in jodhpuri style with a comfortable polo neck T-shirt . For the board room look, go for nice linen suits in deep brown, off white or grey colour and make a fashion statement.
3 Colours to go for: Light colours such as white, beige and pastels work best during the day, while for evening, dark colours such as black, navy blue and dark brown are the best bet.
4 Taking care of linen: Do not leave your linen to dry under the sun for a long time as it can cause the fabric to lose its softness. Make sure you iron linen fabrics while they are still damp. Store linen clothes in a cool and dry place.

GET THE GOTHIC LOOK RIGHT

1 Dress up: A nice black Viscose layered corset dress is a must have for the perfect gothic look. Dresses with subtle embellishment or silver sequence work, also look good.
2 Right makeup: Smoky kohl-lined eyes is a must. Ditch the pencil eye-liner and get the liquid one for the best effect. If you have done up your eyes dramatically, forget the lipstick. And certainly avoid dark, black lipsticks. You could look at wine, red and orange colours with a little
lighter eye makeup.
3 Hairstyle: You can experiment with different hair colour. Black hair will give you a great gothic look, but be careful to make sure that the colour goes with your skin type. And, if you are hesitant about colouring your hair, then you can look at highlighting/streaking your hair.
4 Accessorize: Choose your accessories well — a choker in the neck, headbands, coloured clips or bobby pins, delicate net gloves and bracelets. Be careful not to over-accessorize. One accessory at a time is the way to go. You don’t have to wear everything in your wardrobe in one day.
5 Shoes: Try out black boots, or else black gladiator heels would also look great in summer.

   MONSOON CAR CARE

1. Pre-monsoon check: Get a thorough per-monsoon check done for your vehicle. This includes batteries, tyres, headlights and signal lights, electrical wiring, brake fluid, brakes, engine fluids and wipers.
2. Windshield fluidity: Keep the windshield wiper full at all times.Once it stops raining, the windshield can become really dirty, impairing visibility.Use the windshield to wipe the windscreen clean.
3. Ensure proper wheel alignment: Incorrect wheel alignment may increase braking distance by atleast 15%. Please ensure that your alignment is checked and proper.
4. Beware of Hydroplaning: Hydroplaning or aquaplaning in a vehicle occurs when a layer of water builds up between the wheels of the car and the road surface, leading to loss of traction which prevents the vehicle from responding to control inputs. Ensure that your tyre pressure has been properly checked and drive slowly.
5. Keep safe distance: Distance between two vehicles should be twice the usual space maintained in dry weather as vehicles take longer time to halt during slippery monsoon conditions, compared to dry season.

    SKIN CARE DURING MONSOON

1 Cleanse well: Deep pore cleansing with a facial scrub is essential to keep the pores free of hardened oil. Use a facial scrub twice a week. Apply it on the face and rub gently on the skin, using a circular motion. Then, rinse off with plenty of plain water. Make a facial scrub at home by mixing grounded almonds with curd, and dried and powdered lemon or orange peels.
2 Skin tonic: A skin tonic or freshener is a must in the humid weather. Mix rose water with cucumber juice and apply on the face. Wash it off after 15 minutes.
3 Ban those zits: For pimples, acne or rash, add two handfuls of neem leaves to four cups of hot water. Let it stand overnight. Next morning, strain and make a paste of the soaked neem leaves. Apply on the face and rinse off after 20 minutes.
4 Face pack: If your skin is very oily, mix multani mitti with rose water into a paste and apply it daily on the face. Wash off with cold water when it dries.
